Motorcycle crash victim remembered - Cape Cod Times Posted: 07 Aug 2009 10:42 PM PDT DENNISPORT — The 42-year-old man who died Tuesday in a motorcycle crash is being remembered by friends as a hard-working man willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Gerald M. Robertson, 42, died as a result of injuries received when he was thrown from his motorcycle while riding on Lower County Road Tuesday afternoon, according to Dennis police. Funeral services for Robertson, whose son is in boot camp with the Marines, will be announced tomorrow, said his girlfriend, Tanya Clark of Dennis. Robertson worked as a truck driver for a local paving company as well as for the Sand Dollar Bar and Grill in Dennisport, she said. "He was a good man, the love of my life and now he is gone," she said. "He loved car racing and was proud of his son, who joined the Marines." Clark said family members are trying to get Robertson's son back to the Cape for his father's funeral service. Robertson was headed east when he collided with a westbound vehicle that made a left turn in front of his motorcycle while entering the parking lot of the Sundae School ice cream store, police said. Witnesses told police that Robertson was thrown from his motorcycle and hit a tow truck stopped in the westbound lane. Police said the motorcycle struck a white 2006 Suzuki Gravity station wagon driven by 61-year-old Wisconsin resident James Rice, then hit the tow truck. The driver of the tow truck, which is owned by Upper County Auto of Dennisport, was identified as 36-year-old Robert Gillespie. No charges have been filed, and the case remains under investigation, according to Dennis police. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
