NEW MILFORD -- A Glenwood Road man was charged with reckless driving Tuesday night after he was caught racing his grey Corvette against a motorcycle near the Citgo station on Route 7 south, police said.

Anthony Carapezza, 22, was additionally charged with operating for speed as a wager or race.

An off-duty police officer spotted the Corvette and a blue motorcycle trying to race one another. They quickly faded from view, and police did not pursue but the off-duty officer was able to obtain a registration.

Police then used that information to later contact Carapezza, who came to the police station for questioning. He was then issued the summons.

The motorcycle operator was unable to be found.

Carapezza is scheduled to appear in Bantam Superior Court on Oct. 19.
