DONI TATA PRADITA IMPROVES

Doni was quicker on Saturday than he was on Friday. He is improving regularly on a track where he is racing for the first time.

Doni will start on the 6th row of the grid, with the 22nd time during the qualifying session. He worked today on the setting of the bike with the crew. He will try to score some points tomorrow on a track that he knows better now.

The quickest time went to the World Championship leader Cal Crutchlow on a Yamaha, in front of Joan Lascorz. Kenan Sofuoglu will start from the 3rd position on the grid, with Eugene Laverty joining them on the first row with the 4th time.

Doni Tata Pradita: "I improved from yesterday. I am a little bit happy. I keep the good spirit and my motivation for the race tomorrow. We improved the setting, but not enough. Thank you to my mechanics for working so hard. Please support me for a good race and prey for me."

Martial Garcia (team-manager): "The qualifying session was difficult. Doni was 0.6 second faster than yesterday, but he is still 22nd. I am confident for the race because the motorcycle is good. We have a good setting for the race. We must be patient because the rider needs to understand this special track."

Al-Naimi siblings in a class of their own - Gulf Times

Posted: 03 Oct 2009 03:36 PM PDT

Our Correspondent
Losail:
Brothers Mashel and Sultan al-Naimi won the Superbike and Supersport classes at the Qatar International Road Racing Championships. Just as they had swept the previous races, the siblings dominated the fifth round at the Losail International Circuit to assure themselves of the titles.
Both Mashel and Sultan raised their points tally to 125 each, which means no rider can overtake them with only one round to spare in the series. While Mashel defended his title in style, Sultan dethroned Rashid al-Mannai.
Mashel completed the 15-lap race in 33 minutes, 35.769 seconds on his 2008 Honda CBR 1000, beating Yousef Abdulla al-Malki by over five seconds to the second place and third-placed Naser al-Malki by 16 plus seconds.
Saudi Arabian rider Sultan Munir al-Munif took a creditable fourth and newcomer Mohsen Jaafer finished among top five.
Mashel set a fact pace early in the race and clocked the fastest 2:07.947 in the second lap. Later he did not press hard as others were way behind in speed and consistency. Towards the latter part of the race, he slowed down a bit to avoid any breakdown which allowed Yousef to cut down on the lead. However, this turned out to be the best result of the year for Yousef.
The race was a bit setback for the series second-place holder Naief al-Qubaisi, who got the sixth place. He has now 86 points and is 10 points ahead of Nasser al-Malki. Yousef is in the fourth place with 68. The last race for the trio on December 5 will be quite vital and it would be interesting to see who is pushed out of the top three.
Superbike (15 laps)

Motorcyclist pleads not guilty in DUI crash - Idaho8.com

Posted: 03 Oct 2009 03:01 PM PDT

Associated Press - October 3, 2009 6:05 PM ET

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Cheyenne man charged with aggravated vehicular homicide while driving under the influence after the passenger on his motorcycle died in a crash has pleaded not guilty.

Marvin E. Steiner Jr. pleaded not guilty Friday to killing 28-year-old Heather R. Hartley in the motorcycle crash east of Cheyenne on May 29.

The 54-year-old Steiner is accused of crashing while racing another driver.

Police say Hartley was pronounced dead at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on the night of the crash.

Authorities say Steiner was released from jail on his own recognizance because he still has medical needs from the crash.

Steiner on Friday was ordered to continue wearing an alcohol monitor bracelet.

Robert R. Rose, Steiner's attorney, had sought weekly testing instead because of the $100-a-week cost of the bracelet to his client.
